The Albany - Delaware Township Fire Department has state certified instructors to train our firefighters in-house. We certify in Mandatory Firefighter, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800, Firefighter 1 & 2, and Technical Rescue Awareness. We open our training up to other departments throughout Delaware, Randolph, and Jay Counties.
Our department requires a minimum of 24 hours each year of continued education for all of our firefighters. Anyone medical certified is also required to complete medical continued education hours. All of our members are required to be certified in CPR and are able to assist on cardiac calls in that capacity.
Volunteer Firefighters put in a lot of time responding to calls, attending meetings and trainings, and participating in special events. Training is a must but takes a lot of time away from our families. The Albany - Delaware Township Fire Department utilizes the 24-7 Online Fire/EMS Training System to supplement training hours for our firefighters. While we require hands-on training, this system is Indiana State Approved training to help our firefighters meet their training requirements while still spending time with their family and meeting other obligations.
